"This is such a gorgeous bird, I had to put this photo in. However, the cuckoo was hidden behind a whole bunch of twigs, which I laboriously cleaned away in Photoshop. The key problem is that one branch almost completely covered the bird's bill, and so 90% of the bill is my artless reconstruction. This is the only photo of the bird I got. The bird was looking at me, so the bill was head on. Per the field guides, these cuckoos have a short, slim black bill, but I am a terrible drawer. At least, enjoy the amazing colours" |
