English: Western spotted orbweaver (Neoscona oaxacensis) female taken in Laguna Beach, CA. We took pictures of her over a period of about three hours in that time she caught two bees in the web. The spider body was about 1.8 cm

The identification is probably good. There don't seem to be closely similar spiders in the area. This site in particular has several Neoscona oaxacensis images that look like a very close match for this spider: http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/spiders/Neoscona%20oaxacensis.htm
