Summary

Description

Cynocephalus volans. The nocturnal Flying Lemur is active at night, spending the day inside specific holes in trunks of standing dead trees, or inside holes in branches of live trees.

Colugos have a membrane of skin that enables them to cover long distances gliding from tree to tree. Phylogenetic studies seem to prove, that Colugos are the closest relatives of the primates.

Colugos are classified as vulnerable. Their rainforest habitat is being cleared and furthermore it is hunted for meat and fur.
